In response to anti-Windfarm claims that wind turbines create hazardous noise levels, the Clean Energy Council wanted to present some facts. Sometimes less is more.
In the leadup to the 2011 Victorian State election, the Clean Energy Council wanted voters to recognise the reality for residents who live close to wind turbines rather than take notice of the fiction propagated by wind energy opponents.
With no particular story direction given, we had a blank canvas… but only 3 days to deliver so we tackled the exaggerated claims of harmful noise with the simple truth. By contrasting the sound of wind turbines with more common sounds around a farm, we let the evidence of our video production speak for itself.
The simple strength of a point well-made without a word being spoken was well received by supporters of wind energy. In 2012, this film production had a second life as the introductory short film for the Opening Night of the Environmental Film Festival Melbourne.
