A Quiet Evolution (Mini-Doco)

ARENA

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) is an independent agency funded by the federal government. It’s tasked with accelerating Australia’s shift to an affordable and reliable renewable energy future.

THE CLIENT’S BRIEF

The uptake of solar panels across Australia has been extensive so the value of solar power is commonly recognised. ARENA wanted greater recognition for the impact of its $92m investment in large scale solar energy projects which have been significant recent drivers of regional economic growth.

THE STORY REIMAGINED

Given our client’s need to respect the political sensitivities surrounding renewable energy, our video production focused on reinforcing the legitimacy of these solar energy projects as simply the next wave of farming in Australia.

To fully understand the essence of this story, we conducted a location recce at the 210 hectare Parkes solar farm during its earliest days of construction.  This allowed us to identify the genuine local characters and locations that would support our film production narrative in advance of the busy shoot days.

“So many of you told us that you loved the short version. That’s why, by popular demand, we now bring you the ‘director’s cut’, a 9 mins version of the film, introducing new characters and a more detailed look inside the fascinating story of what happens when large scale solar comes to a regional centre like Parkes.” (ARENA WIRE)
